A Horse Whispers Your Troubles Away

The Spirit of Epona - To Listen & to Help
Angela contacted me as she felt she had the weight of the world on her shoulders, but because she is a very private person and an excellent actress no-one knew that something was wrong.
There were family issues, friend issues, and work issues. Nothing felt like it fitted into place.
Angela was losing her temper, could not sleep and generally felt very unwell and unhappy. She phoned me very early on Saturday morning, and it was obvious that she wanted to talk, but would not open up at all. It took some persuasion but she finally agreed to meet me at the stables. I said if nothing else, some fresh air and some peace and quiet may help.
Angela is very nervous of horses, never having really been around them, so I simply suggested she come and chat to me whilst I muck out.
Angela arrived at 10.30, her shoulders were high up her neck, her hat pulled down over her face. She is only 5feet 3 but seemed so much smaller as she walked hunched over as though she was in considerable pain. I gave her a seat and she just sat in Harvey’s stable with her back to the field.
Angela was not communicating with me at all, in fact was saying very little, giving me no real clues as to what issues she wanted to work on with me. However I noticed that Nell my chestnut mare had walked very quietly over and was standing in the field directly behind Angela who was not aware of her presence. I asked Angela to close her eyes and to simply breathe deeply and slowly since she was not in the mood to talk. This she did. I looked at Nell, she had lowered her head and her eyes were half closed and appeared to be doing the same.
I started to take Angela through a Meditation of simple relaxation, but we had hardly begun our journey when she exclaimed that she could see a chestnut coloured horse, mirroring her actions in her mind’s eye. I looked up and behind Angela, Nell still stood, her head lowered, and her eyelids flickering. I looked back at Angela her eyes were tight closed and she had not once turned round and therefore had no idea that Nell was right behind her. I gently asked Angela what she could see and what was she doing. Angela said she was talking to this horse, and was telling her all her troubles and how she felt. As I normally do within meditations I said that I would leave Angela in this safe place talking with the horse in her mind for 10 minutes and would come back to her in a little while.
10 minutes later I heard a large sigh from Angela, and she opened her eyes without any prompting from me. Almost immediately afterward, I heard Nell sign right behind Angela, and Angela turned. “Oh my god, that's the horse!” – What horse I asked innocently – Angela told me that Nell was the horse she saw in her minds eye, the one she had been talking to and sharing her pain with. Angela walked over to Nell and said “Thank You for taking my problems away” – I had tears in my eyes, but I always do when I watch my horses work.
Angela looked like a new woman, she looked radiant, peaceful and joyful. She connected with Nell without ever touching her or properly seeing her until after their meditation together. I always thought that Nell spoke to me but to witness her talking to a friend in need – now that's what I call Horse Whispering.

UPDATE: I recently spoke to Angela and asked how she was doing. I am delighted to hear that she is sleeping well, her aches and pains have gone, her home life is at a much more positive level, and she is looking forward to weekends and family time which she used to dread. Angela said she still cannot get over experiencing a horse whispering to her, but it is something she will recommend to everyone she meets, and return to when her fears and stresses feel too overwhelming to bear.
