I have been teaching and perpetually researching the many facets of the natural horse world, for over 25 years.

As a Reiki Master and energy worker I not only deal with the fundamentals of horse care but also encompass the psychological, spiritual, environmental and all symbiotic relationships directly connecting to the equine way of life and all living creatures.

How My Journey Began

There I was lying on the ground, my right arm stretched out above my head. My face barely resting on it and my eyes gazing straight across the ground seeing the tiny pieces of grass and rocks. My attention moved to my body where I asked, “What just “BROKE?” The shattering loud noise of a bone breaking was all I heard just seconds before. I lay there paralyzed with fear saying to myself, “Now you did it, you broke your back!”.

Then suddenly I became aware that I had just left the barn and no one was there. No one will be coming to my rescue for quite some time.

Quickly I asked myself, “What can you move?” I focused on my left arm that raised me slightly. Realizing then my back must be intact, I look down at my legs and insist,” MOVE DARN IT, MOVE!”.

Finally my left leg moves ever so slowly and I think, fine just the right leg broken then. I then looked up to the sky and asked for help. What seemed like a lifetime was likely just a few minutes of time.

Taking a few deep breaths and realizing again I am alone, my right leg and then the rest of my body’s feelings start to surface. I struggle to push myself up to stand, feeling stiff, sore and limping terribly but I grabbed my horse and slowly hobbled back to the barn - wondering all the way if I should shoot the horse or myself!

It was that day that the danger of horses was truly realized for me. I had been riding for 20 some years yet no one had shown me how to teach a horse or myself how to avoid these situations. Sure, I'd been shown how to get on, steer and stop but the fact that these animals have such an emotional side was something that never, ever discussed.

Then there were the training techniques I had been shown. Full of fear, intimidation and force, all so that the human could get the job done faster!

This experience was what triggered my quest to seek a better, more natural way with horses - and how my journey to find a better way to communicate with them began....

Testimonials

"A good horsemanship teacher and coach must have a deep understanding of horses and their behavior. What is often overlooked is that the teacher must have that same understanding of the human in order to facilitate a positive learning environment that leads to better relationship between horse and owner. Elaine Polny has the gift of both. She continually surprises me with her deep insight and intuition. She has a way of knowing what is needed at any given moment to set her students and their horses up for success."

"Many masterful horsemen/women can accomplish amazing things with a horse, but lack the skills to pass that knowledge on in a way that a student can hear. Elaine teaches by listening to the student and the horse. In this way she can put together a program that is specific to the needs of each horse and owner. I have a great deal of respect for Elaine as a professional and I am proud to call her my friend."
