How did my horse know?

Hi Elaine,

My horse, Sierra, continues to amaze me. After what's turned out to be a long cold winter, finally we were having a warm day here in Kentucky. I decided to take advantage of the weather and comb the girls' manes and tails. Sapphire, my black horse, was happily munching on leftover hay from breakfast and Sierra was standing quietly in the sun, so I started on her. It was funny, a few minutes later Sapphire stopped eating and "pulled in" behind Sierra waiting her turn! haha!

After a couple hours of grooming, and watching the girls go to sleep while I worked on them, Sapphire went back to her hay and I finished up Sierra's mane...all except her bangs. She was standing so straight and tall now that I couldn't reach them, and that's what I told her. "Well, Babe, I can't reach your bangs without a ladder!" I joked, and tucked the comb into my back pocket and walked up to the gatepost to do a little sunning of my own. Sierra stood and looked at me for a minute then walked up to me and started nudging the comb in my pocket. I asked her if she wanted some more? I couldn't believe it when she lowered her head and held it there, so I could comb her bangs!!! HOW did she know to do this???

Hi Jen,

This is my favorite question asked so far! Thank you for bring it up! Because now we can discuss something that is deeper, more meaningful and more important than any technique we try and come up with when interacting with people or the animal kingdom. Some refer to it as vibrational energy, others may call it intuition. There are numerous ways we can explain this but it does need to come with a belief that there is such a thing as communication through consciousness and that unseen energy exists.


For those of us who find a close kinship with horses (and all animals) it’s no surprise that we often think we have shared each others thoughts. As if we have spoken to each other with (and sometimes without) opening our mouths to say the words. Animal communication beliefs are growing very rapidly yet we all seem to want to experience it for ourselves in order to validate it, I can only assure you that this phenomena does truly exist and you just experienced it!

Inter-species Communication

We recognize that each species on our planet can communicate with their own kind very easily. The birds communicate with each other, the horses communicate with each other, the problem is even the horses would have a harder time communicating with the birds than their own kind too. But if they really wanted to they could. Learning another language that is so foreign can be challenging but the one thing we all share (and come from) is source energy. When we quiet our minds and offer thoughts of pure positive energy, another then could tap into and exchange a mutual interaction of communication.

So you asked, “How does she know what I was saying?” Because you had a pure positive thought that you shared with honesty and without agenda that she was able (and wanted) to hear.

Take notice of how you were feeling at the time this all happened. I bet you were feeling love for your horses and your only intent at that moment was to offer kindness and appreciation. That’s the doorway to connecting with an other consciousness.

So many people have had similar experiences to yours and I would love to hear more of these stories from everyone!
