Women’s Connection With Horses

I had some trouble at first wondering how to write this without alienating the men of the world. Then I realized that they are a part of this equation whether they know it or not and whether we women know it or not too!
It starts with the thought that “we are all connected” and ends with the noticeable separation of societal and cultural expectations. Hmmm, rather deep hey? Stay with me.
Depending upon the company you keep and the culture you are familiar with will help us all to unfold the underlying wonder, why women are drawn to and connected to horses.
But for now, and with credibility, I will only speak about my experience and about those who have crossed my path. From my many years of experience and the unexplainable fact that since I was a little girl I was attracted to their company more than the people in my life, it helped me to identify the reasons.
Reason #1
Strength & PowerHorses ooze “strength & power” just by watching them frolic. We all desire this feeling of strength and power that horses so easily demonstrate.
Reason #2
ConfidenceA new born foal or any horse that has had a natural upbringing has no trouble showing confidence and making decisions regarding what is right for them. No peer pressure involved. We all want to feel confident in everything we do.
Reason #3
The Need to BelongHorses do not gain strength nor do they ever want to be alone. They want to belong to a group that effectively functions for the betterment of all.
Just look at the number of clubs and groups people want to belong to. We are a social society and have a desire to belong which really helps to empower us and co-create ideas together.
We have decided an acceptable punishment for crimes is to isolate and separate individuals from one another which is not that different from separating horses from their herds and placing them individually in stalls.
Reason #4
Horses know what they want. Horses want what’s best for “them”. Oh, sound a little selfish, but wait, we all need to understand to look after ourselves first. Otherwise, we are of no value to anyone else.
Unless we feel good about ourselves, we really cannot offer good thoughts or feelings to others. Have you ever tried to feel better when you are with someone who is sad? They would only have sadness to offer you.
Reason #5
Well being abounds! Horses (and all animals) live in the moment and know that well being abounds. They understand the power of their now. They expect the Universe to yield to them. They don't worry or fret or conjure or make laws or rules or try to regulate. They are Pure Positive Energy.
Whether we are woman or man we all want to experience good feelings. No one “wants” to feel sad or unworthy.
The closer you stand next to others (human or horse) who demonstrate these good characteristics you feel stronger and everyone wants more of that! That’s why even the simple task of grooming a horse can help us feel better after a challenging day.
